President's Day in Phoenix
President's Day Weekend marked the first set of outdoor games for ten FC United teams as they participated in SC del Sol's 29th annual tournament. Of note, both the U13 Girls Select and U16 Girls Select reached the quarter-finals where they lost to La Roca Premier and Windy City Pride, respectively. On the boys side, the U17 Select reached the finals and lost in penalties to Classic FC Red Star. Congratulations to all teams. Check Team's Results Here!

Congratulations U17 Girls Classic

Congratulations to the U17 Girls Classic for winning the IWSL BN Division in the fall.
The team finished with 8 wins and 1 loss while scoring 40 goals and conceding only 8.
In addition, the girls have won the IWSL Sportsmanship Award.
U17 Boys Select finish runners up at Tampa Sun Bowl

Congratulations to the U17 Boys Select for finishing second in the Tampa Bay Sun Bowl. The team got to the final with four wins and two ties and eventually lost 1-0 to Dunedin Stirling Soccer Academy. The team has started the season well by finishing runners up at Tampa and going undefeated at the CASL Showcase two weeks earlier.

FC United Teams Shine at CASL Shootout

FC United has sent 10 teams to the prestigious CASL
Shootout in Raleigh, NC, over 4 different weekends this fall.

FC United Boys U18 Select and Boys U17 Select teams competed this past weekend. Both teams are coached by Robert Meschbach and had great success; the U18 Boys won all 3 games and came in 1st place in their bracket and the U17 Boys won 2 games and tied 1 game, tying for 1st place in their bracket. Other highlights from the FC United teams include:

  • FC United Girls U18 Select team, coached by Robert Meschbach, won their bracket with 2 wins and 1 tie.
  • FC United Girls U15 Select team, coached by Jim McNitt, won their bracket and advanced to the tournament final.
  • FC United Girls U13 Select team, coached by Roy Wiggemansen, won the tournament!

Former FC Player Jordan Lomnicki and Ohio State place 2nd in NCAA Division 1 Tournament
After defeating Massachusetts 1-0 in the quarterfinal game on December 14, Ohio State advanced to the title game, losing to Wake Forest 2-1. The Club would like to congratulate Jordan on his terrific freshman season with Ohio State!
Former FC United Player Thorstad Garners All-OVC honors
Michelle Thorstad, of Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, earned All-Ohio Valley Conference recognition, the conference office announced Friday. Click here to read more.
Former Player Wins NCAA Championship
Former FC United player, Baer Fisher of Middlebury College won the NCAA Div. III championship this past Saturday. His team beat Trinity College (Texas) 4-3 in a penalty shootout. Baer has a long history with the club having played with the Trevian Soccer Club since U9 and as one of the first players to play for FC United when it was formed in 2003. His sister, Eliza, currently plays for the U15 Select team. Congratulations Baer!
Former FC United Players Shine in Record Breaking Season
Congratulations to Michael Richter, Nick Rizzo and Matt Pucci for making it to the Division III Final Four with Loras College of Iowa. The former FCU players were instrumental in the Loras’ latest win by scoring a goal each. The win put the Loras Duhawks overall record at 23-0-1 for the year, extending the school record for wins for the second time in as many days. Matt Pucci is the leading scorer with 17 goals for the season. FC United would like to congratulate the boys and wish them good luck in their semi-final match Friday, November 23 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex.

5 FC United teams advance to semi-finals at Celtic Cup
Congratulations to all of the teams that advanced to the second round of the Celtic Cup over Labor Day weekend. The U13 Girls Select lost in the final to Rockford Dactyls, while both U16 Classic teams lost in the semi-finals which prevented an all FC United final. Elsewhere in the U18 bracket, the select team lost in a penalty shootout to the KUFC Cosmos,
while the classic team also made it to the semis, but lost 3-1.
