Congratulations to the U17 Boys Select for winning their bracket at the Blue Chip Showcase. The team won 2-0 against BV Grasshoppers; won 2-1 against Reston FC, and lost 2-1 to Metro United. The tournament, held in Cincinnati, OH, is known to attract some of the best teams in the country and its main purpose is to expose teams and players to many college coaches. This year the event hosted 5 of the top 6 and 22 of the top 50 ranked teams in the country, including the National Champion, current #1 ranked team, and three of the final four teams at the US Youth Soccer National Championships, as well as 165 men's college coaches.

To our FC United families:

We would like to bring to your attention an exciting development for our Club. We have partnered with the proprietor of the Glenview Sports Academy to renovate an old warehouse for use as an indoor soccer training facility. The warehouse is located on Old Willow Road in Glenview and previously housed the Carrot Top.

As our Club membership has grown, so have our needs for quality indoor and outdoor facilities. We have consistently found ourselves constrained by the availability of quality facilities, which can be difficult to come by in our area. A few years ago, in our first major project to address the long-term facility needs of the Club, we partnered with Loyola High School to secure long-term use of outdoor fields. Loyola has been a terrific partner for our Club, and we hope to maintain that relationship for many years to come.

Our current indoor project is intended to provide for much of the indoor practice needs of the Club, particularly for our younger teams. Importantly, the facility will enable us to reduce our reliance on basketball gyms throughout the area. We will now have available to us a larger soccer-specific facility, complete with artificial turf and soccer goals. Some of our teams have already begun to utilize the space. We hope that you will enjoy it.

We continue to work on other projects intended to secure the long-term needs of our Club. We will keep you informed of developments as they occur.

Sincerely,

FC United Board of Directors

FC United player travels to Mexico with US National team
Luis Medina of FC United recently spent 7 days in Guadalajara, Mexico with the U14 National team as they played some friendlies against some of Mexico top teams. "It was very fun and I really got to know the players a lot better during the 7 days in Mexico", said the Waukegan native soon after he was back. "It was definitely a great experience and one that will hopefully help me with my development as a national player" he added. The team played against two Chivas teams and the Decos. When they weren't practicing or playing the team enjoyed some of the local attractions and got to attend a Chivas vs. Toluca game which finished 1-1 in an exciting fashion, with a goal scored in the last minute of the game. Luis hopes to be recalled again to the national team in April as they continue their program at the Home Depot Center in California. To find out more about the U14 National team, please click here. FC UNITED PLAYERS GET SELECTED FOR NATIONAL POOL
The coaching staff would like to congratulate Amber Fry of the U15 Girls Select team and Luis Medina of the U14 Boys Select team for making the US National Pool for their respective age groups. The players were among the few that made it to the national camp where they got the chance to compete with some of the best players from around the country. Amber traveled to Pomona, California while Luis spent a week in Concord, Massachussets being watched, evaluated and directed by U.S. Soccer's National Staff coaches.
